Spicy heels by Louis Vuitton

There are probably no words to describe this haphazard arrangement of feathers, python skin, rope, big jewels and tribal face masks. Where should the line be drawn between 'fashion' and 'insanity'?

That said, if you ripped off a few of the crazy additions to these shoes, they wouldn't be half bad. But nobody is going to deface a $2000 Louis Vuitton shoe. I'm guessing that tribal face mask is probably worth $100 by itself...

the angry dance

This epitomises how the angry dancing beast within me feels. I suggest we all learn it just in time for the Review as a cultural expression of a most primal and sometimes rewarding emotion.

feeling bookish?

i've been thinking a bit about displaying/storing books lately seeing as I far too many (mostly scummy textbooks) to actually fit in my bookstand, and have resorted to just stacking them in disorderly piles around the place.

Here are some of the interesting spins on the traditional form of book storage - the humble bookcase - that I've come across on Flickr, the design blog desire to inspire and the lovely Kate from love you big (who also provided a link to a personal library to top all others in scale and sheer obssessiveness). I would include a picture of my own bookcase which has a really interesting asymmetrical thing going on, but it's so messy at the moment it's embarrassing.
So with out further ado:
the fun, yet impractical

the chic and modern:

the artisticly cluttered

the, um, descent into book heaven?

Whoa...

I know Louis probably would have written a better post on this, but when I saw these shoes, they were too crazy NOT to post...

Look! Not even a place to support the arch of your foot!! And the colour! The heel!! It's like five crazy shoe concepts all smashed into one super-dooper wacko shoe!

Shoe connisseurs might be drooling, but I don't know.... Practicality always won over style for me. Especially when feet are concerned. They're too important for me to mistreat them :)

Louis - feel free to add any smart-sounding fashion comments on this 'shoe' (aka. crazy contraption for the feet).

An open letter to Coleridge: please die now

Dear Samuel Taylor Coleridge,

Damn you and your infuriatingly complex poems. Why must there be forty-seven translations of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? Why is the mariner's journey not a short trip to Ireland? Why does your stupid prose gloss complicate things? WHY ARE YOU A ROMANTIC POET??! Even Google agrees that Romanticism is 'one of the most complex literary movements in history'. WHY?

And, by the way, we all know you were doing illicit drugs, and not anodyne, when you wrote Kubla Khan! HA! Caught in the act! I'm GLAD that person from Porlock interrupted you while you were writing Kubla, otherwise I would have three hundred more lines of unintelligible poetry to dissect whilst trying to write a half-formidable essay of a few thousand words. Didn't you, while you were in one of your moments of 'spontaneity', stop to think of the poor, hassled students later who would potentially write essays on your poems a few centuries later who might be suffering??

You should be ASHAMED! The pain and trouble you are causing us is irreversible. My mind is forever scarred with lines of your poetry. So much so that I will myself, by the force of my uncontrollable primary imagination, erratically shout lines of your poems.

"In Xanadu did Kubla Khan decree..." NOO!!

No regards and very unsincerely,

~ Hurley Who
