Now this is where practicality meets style

Chanel shoes with light bulbs as heels. Err...

PS. Sorry for all this 'random clothes and jewellrey' stuff I keep posting, but once I see something strange on the web, I have to share it

That's nice... What is it?!

The first time I saw Alexander McQueen's new collection, Plato's Atlantis, it was in MX (not a real newspaper but anywhoo). I opened the front cover and my mouth fell open.

So many thoughts in my head... UGLY! AMAZING! SEA URCHIN!

This one kind of reminds me of underwater caves like in Ariel the Mermaid Princess (I nearly types 'the Warrior Princess' haha)

Are those... nuts and bolts?!?!

There are no words for this one. It's like Michael Jackson's glove in shoe form.

PS. Sorry there's no pictures of the clothes or the models' hair. I thought there was enough strangeness for one post :)

Zu/Williams/Betts Shoe

I know they're a funny pink, but apparently they come in black from Williams for only $90 [source].

Isn't it funny that Zu, Williams & Betts are all stocking a similar looking shoe?

A shoe for today

Spotted two pairs of quite similar-looking shoes today, the heels from Zu ($150) & wedges from Betts ($110).

They look surprisingly comfy with the elastic idea they have going on & quite wearable because they're black, not too attention-striking & have just the right cross-over detail to make them interesting. I like the Zu one better though because the platform makes the shoe more proportional & balanced =)

Major shoe envy/obsessions

Jane Aldridge from Sea of Shoes has THE most amazing shoe collection for a person under 18 (she is 17). Louis and I have already agreed upon that fact. My favourite shoes are partially hidden but they are the grey Emanuel Ungaro strappy branch heels... the furthest on the left at the bottom on the main shelf (I confused myself when I wrote that). By the way, the picture by no means encompasses her entire collection. There are many, many, many more. Especially more boots which I presume are too large to fit into this photo. And all her shoes are designer. Dries Van Noten, Chanel, Miu Miu, Louboutin, Maison Martin Margiela, Stella McCartney.... No jokes.

Looking at that picture gives me relief from the pain in my head and my hand. :) That is all.

Spicy heels by Louis Vuitton

There are probably no words to describe this haphazard arrangement of feathers, python skin, rope, big jewels and tribal face masks. Where should the line be drawn between 'fashion' and 'insanity'?

That said, if you ripped off a few of the crazy additions to these shoes, they wouldn't be half bad. But nobody is going to deface a $2000 Louis Vuitton shoe. I'm guessing that tribal face mask is probably worth $100 by itself...

Sky High [Fall 09]

I'm going to award brownie points (& possibly a freddo) to the person who can guess 5 designers correctly.*

Whoa...

I know Louis probably would have written a better post on this, but when I saw these shoes, they were too crazy NOT to post...

Look! Not even a place to support the arch of your foot!! And the colour! The heel!! It's like five crazy shoe concepts all smashed into one super-dooper wacko shoe!

Shoe connisseurs might be drooling, but I don't know.... Practicality always won over style for me. Especially when feet are concerned. They're too important for me to mistreat them :)

Louis - feel free to add any smart-sounding fashion comments on this 'shoe' (aka. crazy contraption for the feet).

Bags vs. Shoes?

Apparently there are two types of women: those who love shoes, or those who love bags…but I think the contrary. The quintessence of the world of fashion involves the fusion of both bags and shoes as musts or must-haves to complement and/or make a statement with an outfit. Hence I can draw the conclusion that both are interrelated – i.e. one must complement the other (or contrast in the extremes). But then again, the inessentiality of certain types of bags gives rise to the argument that shoes are more practical, but in counterargument, the impracticality of several shoes gives rise to the argument that bags in certain cases, would be more practical…So as I close my rant, I leave you with some pictures of weird shoes and bags that I have found, courtesy of google images and wikipedia.

It is a funny thing that us humans invent so many useless things (whilst comparing them relative to one another), but even more fascinating that our human race can continue to perpetually do so without losing interest in such elements of oddness, quirkiness, or even the concept of ‘new fashionableness’ – and that is what I find most interesting about fashion.
